The team at SSEAMS isn’t particularly interested in fleeting fashion and prefer to put their efforts into discovering the artisans who inspire our readers at home to invest in their emerging and heritage independent brand formula! Speaking of heritage, this issue features; House of Cheviot continuing to make possibly the most important garment you wear - socks! They are the leading Scottish experts based in the borders. Brora - a household name with a stunning colour palette of the highest quality knitwear talks about Spring Matters.

Our first article of the issue features Commune, the sustainable self-care brand with a design-driven, community ethos from Somerset. We thank Vixy Rae of Stewart Christie for her contribution; Threads of Structure: Tailoring x Architecture - a beautiful piece! This issue also announces the launch of our team’s second brand play - new Scottish lifestyle venture, Borthwick & Forrest - just the beginning for that one where we celebrate rural living after seeing a city exodus post-pandemic. Can we entice the global Scots around the world to buy a piece of home knowing the hands touching that product are proud local makers? We think so.

Le Tricoteur take to the pages and we congratulate the team for doing one thing really well, keeping the original guernsey sweater alive and well. Within the confines of circularity, our independent store showcase goes to Dōr - the independent lifestyle and coffee store based in the Scottish Borders and is influenced by wellbeing, sustainability, and the environment. Jack is doing a brilliant job there and we invite you to not cross the border without a visit!

Additionally, this issue launches our first brand product collaboration - SSEAMS X Sneaker Pharm* Workbench Apron, Scottish made by the talented team of skilled artisans in Fife. Our intent remains to put a spotlight on their work - championing a revival in onshore manufacturing here in Scotland.

SSEAMS cultivates conversations from today’s UK artisans and this edit is made for you with the above highlights and much more!

Enjoy the issue!
