Colleen Sandieson is a creative with a vision for designing beautiful product, combining performance, innovation and style at a premium level. She is renowned for her affinity to minimal design, attention to detail, sensibility for colour and obsession with the make and craft of product from conceptualisation to end in mind.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Colleen graduated from Northumbria University with a BA (hons) in Fashion Design. Shortly after she created her first unisex upmarket casual wear collection for Cruise clothing, Glasgow. Her curiosity to enrich her global experience and to grow within the industry led to her living in Manchester, London, Germany, Amsterdam, Portland, and Canada to work with some of the worlds most respected brands. An Executive Global Design Leader with over 20 years of experience, she is conversant with today’s global lifestyle and athleisure consumer.
Possessing the unique ability to operate in both the illustrious industry of high fashion and the performance-oriented world of sportswear, Colleen’s previous and current roles among others include: lululemon, Nike, Esprit, Joseph, Pepe Jeans and Cruise clothing. Drawing inspiration from human anatomy and its makeup and the ever-evolving world we live in, Colleen’s creative concepts focus on the human centric need for wellbeing, planet positivity, diversity and inclusivity.
Her fascination with the body in motion, in addition to her obsession for detail, mastering simplicity and beauty in design, naturally inform her evolving body of work. Her understanding of patternmaking, production processes and systems of dress with a sensitivity to form, function and the importance of material have been instrumental to her success in launching the first swim collection for Nike EHQ and later the evolution of Run, Train and Yoga collections at Nike WHQ.
Her most recent role, VP Concept Design, lululemon unified her mastery of product and her love for creating concepts with a narrative. Driving the vision and leading a large team of artists and innovators, she successfully elevated the aesthetic of all activities including swim for lululemon. Balancing the art and the science, her insights and knowledge of market trends influenced the evolution and success of concept processes and strategies in all businesses; men, women and accessories.
